It is with deep regret that we have to announce that Tomas Fucik has requested to leave the Smailes Goldie Hull Pirates. He has been approached by a top European side and given an opportunity he couldn't turn down. Tomas will return to the continent to play at a higher level than he has been able to previously, he asked us to release him so that he could take it. This is obviously a huge blow to us, but we felt that we couldn't refuse him the opportunity to play in one of the best leagues in the world. As a club we wish him all the very best with his new team, we hope you join us with this.

Where there is disappointment there is also opportunity. We now have to regroup and look to the future and winning silverware. In order to do this we have decided to bring in at least one import forward and follow the formula of a British goaltending team. It is a structure which gives teams greater depth out on the ice and one which will strengthen us.

Head Coach Jason Hewitt is currently busy looking for the right players to fit in to his team. We had chance to catch-up with him earlier for a chat:
“I wish Tomas all the best in the future, it’s a great opportunity for him and one I certainly wasn’t going to stand in the way of. It’s been great having Tomas, his stats speak for him as a player but more for me was what a good team mate and professional he was, it’s a shame, but we move on.

Obviously our dynamic changes now, we’re talking to forwards and the one thing in this search we need is secondary scoring power, and that’s what we’re looking for".

Although it is a shame to lose Tomas we have to look at this as an opportunity to evolve. Join us on Sunday evening as we welcome Sutton Sting to Hull for a 5:30pm face-off.
