The Smailes Goldie Hull Pirates are extremely happy to welcome back fan favourite James Archer to the line up.

After playing the first part of the season with the newly formed Leeds Chiefs, James has returned to the team with which he was talismanic in winning a treble last season.

Archer is looking forward to returning to the Pirates fold,  exclaiming, ‘Glad to be back with the lads, Hull was a special place for me over the last two years and to create history last season like we did was a great moment. I’m thankful to Shane and Jason for bringing me back at this stage of the season and I hope to help build on what they have already created’.

Player coach Jason Hewitt also shares this sentiment and is happy to see Archer return to Hull. Jason remarked, ‘Very happy to get Arch back, he’s someone who was great for us the last two years and huge part of our success.’

Jason continued, ‘We know what we’re getting with his experience and skill set. He can slot in on any line and is a big addition on our special teams. James’ return has come at a great time for us with still being short bodied and a huge weekend coming up for our club.’

Archer will ice this weekend with the Pirates when we face London Raiders away on Saturday before making his return to the Hull Arena on Sunday to face Bracknell.
